J.Crew expands its size range with a new collaboration
American brand J.Crew is the latest of many fashion labels opting to include larger sizes in their collection offerings.
Following in the footsteps of cult US label Reformation (which expanded its size range earlier this year and apologised for not doing so earlier), J.Crew has teamed up with fashion start-up company, Universal Standard, to create a capsule collection of size-inclusive pieces that are modern essentials for any woman's wardrobe.
The new J.Crew x Universal Standard capsule collection will include the American label's signature stripes, khaki hues and minimal designs across a series of tops, dresses, skirts and pants that will now be offered in sizes from XXS to 5X.
The 5X size range is currently only availablein the collaboration pieces, however J.Crew will continue to roll out larger sizes later this year and have already begun expanding their sizes on the brand's site.
According to Fashionista, Lisa Greenwald, the Chief Merchandising Officer of J.Crew, said of the collection: "We wanted to work with experts in the field on this collection to kick off a much larger rollout of extended sizes, new fits and fabrications across the brand. We recognised Universal Standard's highly technical approach and reached out to them to help create a new collection tailored for the real, diverse spectrum of the American woman. This collection is completely inclusive with fits to serve the full spectrum of women's sizes. For the first time ever, the line separating plus- and straight-size women will be erased, and every woman will have the opportunity to shop the same rack, with taste as her only filter."
