Fashion photography duo Inez and Vinoodh set sights on global domination
Husband and wife have big plans for 2014
Husband and wife duo Inez and Vinoodh are highly regarded for their work with celebrities and important figureheads in the fashion industry. Having directed the music video for Lady Gaga's 'Applause' which has received more than 125 million views on YouTube and working with the likes of Julianne Moore and Natalie Massenet - founder of the luxury website Net-A-Porter - they really know the industry.
The Dutch couple are hoping to become household names in the near future with a plan for expanding and becoming a lifestyle brand. With their own jewellery line and perfume already being sold in Barneys New York they are well on the way to achieving their goal.
"They're super talented, and they're super professional, and that goes a long way," Cecilia Dean, the editor of Visionaire was quoted as saying by The New York Times. "And then they've got this whole nurturing private family part of their lives, and I think that keeps them grounded."
The duo are yet to establish an identity as distinguished as that of David LaChapelle or Terry Richardson with their specific visual signature but the couple have a very rare quality for the cutthroat world of fashion which is loyalty.
"They're quite possibly the two coolest human beings on the planet" said Natalie Massenet, with Nicola Formichetti, the artistic director for Diesel, commenting: "They are the loveliest people."
Last year, the Gagosian Gallery exhibited a midcareer reflection of their work in their Paris and LA galleries, and in September one of their photographs of Kate Moss was auctioned off for 220,380dhs at Christie's London. The duos other projects include a unisex perfume called '1996' in collaboration with Swedish fragrance house Byredo, which was originally formulated as a holiday gift for their friends and family.
Those who know Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin personally, all have faith that the couple will succeed in their aim to create their lifestyle brand as they have the ability to win over the general public. "They're so lovable - extremely good-looking, fabulous but down to earth, the perfect couple," said Formichetti. "We are all jealous of them."
