Longtime Hermès International CEO leaves his position to pursue retirement

Patrick Thomas has announced his retirement as chief executive officer at Hermès International, the 66-year-old will be succeeded by Axel Dumas who has acted as co-CEO of Hermès alongside Thomas since last June. Dumas is a sixth-generation member of the Hermès family. 

Thomas first came to the luxury fashion house from Pernod Ricard and was employed as Hermès' managing director between 1989 and 1997. Leaving to join the Lancaster Group as president and executive vice president of its parent company, Coty Inc., Thomas returned to Hermès in 2003 from William Grant & Sons Ltd as CEO - marking the first non-family member to head the company.
