Haute Couture Spring/Summer 14: Versace Atelier
A nod to Grace Jones
Donatella Versace was inspired by the 80s and its icon Grace Jones for Versace Atelier's Haute Couture collection for spring/summer 14. The show marked the opening of Couture week in Paris. The typical Versace jumpsuits, body conscious gowns and glamorous embellishments were all present.
Hooded ensembles were a clear nod to Grace Jones and the iconic 80's hooded catsuits she's known to wear. Azzedine Alaïa - the designer who first dressed Jones in a hood, was in the Versace Atelier audience for the show which took place yesterday evening. Another A-list front row attendee was Lady Gaga, who's song 'Donatella' - an ode to the Versace matriarch herself - opened the show with the apt lyrics "I am so fab, check out, I'm blonde, I'm skinny, I'm rich..."
