Paris Haute Couture AW15: Elie Saab
Going for gold
It was a gilded affair at the Elie Saab Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 15 presentation in Paris today. A golden panelled backdrop reflected onto the glossy runway, which appeared like a river of gold. And this was Saab's inspiration. Gold hues were dominant in the evening gown lineup (which, this season, has done-away with less formal cocktail dresses and focussed squarely on the grand and grander gowns.)
Additions of winged capes and trains, added to the grandeur and expanded the surface area for adornment, which Saab put to use with gold thread, intricate lace placement and an assortment of sparkling embellishments, no two of which are the same. A trim in mink fur appeared on one gown, accenting the richness of the collection. Silhouettes were done in princess and cinderella proportions, in a celebration of femininity and opulence.
