Gucci launches second phase of DIY project
Menswear, jackets, shoes
Luxury fashion house Gucci has launched the second phase of its successful DIY initiative. Designed as a platform to promote self-expressionism, Gucci DIY is the brainchild of Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, who was inspired by the British punk culture, and following the success of Gucci DIY for the Dionysus handbag, the maison is extending the service to menswear, jackets as well as shoes for both men and women.
The new men's tailoring DIY service includes options on cuts, fabrics, buttons as well as linings. Similarly, the Gucci jacket collection – leather, bomber and denim – are offered with an embellishment or patch service to truly add a personal stamp to the pieces. The available designs include some of Gucci's iconic styles including snakes, flowers and bees as well as the brand's popular monogram. Meanwhile, the customisation options for the unisex footwear include embroidery in multiple colours, embossment and for some models, the opportunity to add a tiger's head patch to the apron.
