First look: Gucci Cruise 2016
Geek chic
Alessandro Michele presented Gucci Cruise 2016 in a deconstructed space in New York, with mis-matched kiln rugs and exposed brick lit by intentionally temporary looking flood-lighting plug-ins. All of this contributed to the shabby chic aura of the collection, which was dripping with quirky romanticism.
Pretty pussy-bow neck ties and filly peter-pan collars abounded on sweaters, shirts and dresses, adding a preppy high-neck vibe to the lineup, which was added to with men's cricket jumpers. There was a thread of seventies boho woven through the collection, seen in the floral and geometric prints and floating chiffons and whimsical movement of some of the dresses and skirts, a wonderful combination. Bell sleeves and striped piping details really popped and a stand piece that must be mentioned is the bold pink fur coat with scalloped black trim at the bottom.
