Gucci's 'Chime for Change' anniversary event in New York
The initiative turns one
Headlined by Beyoncé in London on June 1 last year, The Sound of Change Live was the first global concert event in history to support girls' and women's empowerment. Thanks to the special concert benefit, the campaign and its projects has funded 310 initiatives in 81 countries ever since.
Its two co-founders – Frida Giannini and Beyoncé – came together in New York last night with Gucci President and CEO Patrizio di Marco, plus thr likes of James Franco, Solange Knowles (who also treated guests to a special DJ Set), Blake Lively and Pedro Andrade to celebrate and reflect on the impact of the Chime For Change campaign in its first year. And, to raise further funds to support projects focused on Education, Health and Justice for girls and women.
As part of the anniversary celebration Gucci will donate 10% of sales in its Fifth Avenue flagship store, where the event took place, from June 2 to June 5 to further support Shining Hope for Communities, Millennium Promise in partnership with Embrace Innovations, and Girls for Gender Equity.
