Google deepens its relationship with the fashion industry via a new partnership with Italian eyewear manufacturer Luxottica

Technology giant Google has announced that it has teamed up with Luxottica - the world's largest eyewear company - as it prepares for the introduction of its Glass products later in the year.

Italian-based Luxottica - manufacturer of brands including Ray-Ban, Oliver Peoples, Persol and Vogue-Eyewear - will provide support to develop the range of Glass models. Google has revealed it will work with the Italian manufacturer on the design of all its glass-compatible designs. "Luxottica will manufacture these frames and lead distribution of Glass in the eyewear category, and Glass will continue to sell the device online through our Explorer Program," the company revealed.

In January, Google unveiled its first Glass frames designed in-house. "We're making it a more natural part of your life. [Wearing Glass] will be easier with this, plus you have more choices," said Isabelle Olsson lead designer of Google Glass.

The news follows earlier reports on Buro 24/7 Middle East exploring the company's Android Wear featured in the 'LG G'. The company has also said it will partner with Fossil to introduce a line of smartwatches featuring the system before the year is out.
