Giorgio Armani continues to celebrate 40 years in the fashion industry with A-list crowd
Cate Blanchett, Glenn Close, Tom Cruise, Sophia Loren and more
On Thursday, an impressive crowd of celebrities, actors, models, actresses, fellow designers and VIP press turned out once again to celebrate Mr. Armani, his incredible empire, and four decades in the fashion industry.
The luxury veteran met with Italy's Prime Minister Matteo Renzi privately, with Renzi paying tribute to the designer and his wonderful contribution to the country, its economy and creativity.
Cate Blanchett, wearing a chic white Armani suit, shared that she has a "deep personal connection" with the 80-year-old designer, adding that she is "eternally grateful" for his support to the Australian Theatre Company, which he owns with husband Andrew Upton.
Fellow actress and recent Variety cover star Glenn Close said the designer had provided "wonderful generosity" to her charity, Bring Change 2 Mind, which aims to crush the stigma surround mental illnesses, telling WWD: "I met him in the Eighties. [His was] the first piece of clothing I was ever lent, a beautiful black tunic over pajama pants. I still remember it, from back when Reagan was president."
Leonardo DiCaprio also turned out to celebrate Armani, with a huge entourage of massive bodyguards nonetheless. Mean while Lauren Hutton, Pierce Brosnan, Tina Turner, Hilary Swank, Sophia Loren, Chris Pine, Stefano Pilati and many more showed up for the second round of 40th anniversary celebrations, which saw Armani launch the new Silos exhibition space and museum – ahead of the Milan Expo 2015, which opens today.
