Luxury fashion company Gianni Versace S.p.A. has announced the appointment of its new CEO. Jonathan Akeroyd, the Former CEO of Alexander McQueen, has been tasked to take over the top job from Gian Giacomo Ferraris who has been at the helm of the company since 2009.

"We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Akeroyd as our new CEO," said Donatella Versace, Vice President and Artistic Director. "Jonathan brings a proven track record in building global brands, steering growth and driving strategic development. Jonathan Akeroyd's industry expertise and vision will be key to advancing the next phase of Versace's development."

In his previous capacity, Akeroyd had successfully implemented strategies for Alexander McQueen's brand expansion and will now look to offer the same leadership at Versace. "It is an honour to be joining such a dynamic and innovative organisation," said Akeroyd. "Versace is an iconic lifestyle brand recognised globally as a premier name in luxury.  I look forward to implementing a long-term business strategy that supports the visionary and creative direction of Donatella Versace and her team.  This is an exciting opportunity to take Versace to even greater success."

The news comes a month after Anthony Vaccarello announced his exit from Versus Versace.
