Paris Fashion Week: Giambattista Valli Autumn/Winter 15
A soothing new season
Giambattista Valli interprets the Autumn/Winter 15 seventies trend in a young and laid back aesthetic. With words like "magic", "kaleidoscopic" and "comfortable" as spring boards, this collection is all of those things and some. Tunic dresses were out in force, looking young and indeed comfortable, they were worn over trousers and with bare legs, like the softly floral high neck swing dress. Short dresses were exclusively styled with sky high heeled boots that laced up all the way up the front.
Prints were kaleidoscopic in pattern but not so much with colour, the palette was delightfully busy but confined to a core spectrum of mustard yellow, nude pink, black and earthy greens, which served to accentuate the seventies feel. Chevrons, stripes and swirls all featured.
Valli deployed fur across many of the coats and jackets this season and some coats came in a fat houndstooth wool. A calm serenity pervaded the collection and one wonders if there was an element of 'zen' in the inspiration board too.
