Frida Giannini reported to have officially left Gucci one month early
In a scandal that just keeps getting bigger and more confusing, reports have surfaced today that Gucci creative director Frida Giannini – who quit the fashion house with her partner and Gucci CEO Patrizio Di Marco last December – has officially left the business, following an early termination of her contract by Gucci principals.
Giannini was due to leave the iconic Italian fashion house after her Gucci swan song for the Autumn/Winter 2015 season this February. However, it is believed that the 42-year-old Roman creative has now officially left her post one month early.
The Gucci creative director was also set to show her final menswear show for Gucci on January 19, she was said to be looking forward to celebrating her time at the Italian fashion house and was planning a goodbye party with her staff and management.
According to sources, Gucci decided to end Giannini's contract early in a bid to facilitate decision-making about the brand's future creative direction. "The decision [about Giannini's successor] needs to be made, so that it can have an impact on the upcoming collections and shows," said one source.
Gucci are yet to comment on, or confirm the rumours, and it is unknown who will now take the final bow at the upcoming men's and women's shows this month and next month respectively.
