FIT's Peter Do wins LVMH's Graduates Award

Peter Do, a May 2014 graduate of the reputable Fashion Institute of Technology’s (FIT) has recently won the Graduates Award in the inaugural LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize competition

A month after sending his unique work down the runway at FIT, Peter Do is already working in Paris with a major fashion house, as well preparing himself to receive LVMH's  Graduates Award in the Young Fashion Designer Prize competition.

Do will receive $13,600 and a one-year contract with LVMH-owned French fashion house Celine. Additionally, FIT will also receive around $13,000 to signify LVMH's support of fashion education.

Do had to submit six images of his most recent work to the selection committee in order to be considered for the prestigious award – chosen from about 600 applicants worldwide.

"I'm thrilled to have been chosen from among a varied field of such talented designers. I'm beyond excited and grateful to get a chance to join the team at Céline, and I'm thankful for the all the help I got from my professors at FIT, whose support and knowledge got me through this process," Do said in a statement.

"The innovation and originality that Peter has shown at such a young age speaks both to his extraordinary talent and to the promise of a very bright future." Stated Joanne Arbuckle, dean of FIT's School of Art and Design.

Central Saint Martins' Teruhiro Hasegawa also won a Graduates Award and will join Givenchy's team, while Flavien Juan Nunez of La Cambre and the Institut Francais de la Mode has been placed at Christian Dior.
