First look: Stella McCartney Cruise 2014/15
Stella's got her groove back
McCartney, who is known for her androgynous cuts and signature fabrics, has taken us on a new journey to the jungle.
The collection starts with modern-day safari inspired cuts, laser-cut blazers and wide-leg trousers, each piece reminiscent of an exotic 1940s South American cruise.
In the absence of nautical references, McCartney steers us towards prints of colourful and comical wrestling masks, oversized stripes and paisleys – in contrast to the designer's use of symbols taken from Eastern iconography such as Lotus flowers, Yin and Yang symbolism and the rising sun, which are printed onto a beige fabric where an overall Zen effect is achieved.
Showcasing 30 looks, ranging from A-line and loose-fitting cuts to silk jumpsuits and a-symmetrical patchwork dresses, McCartney's Cruise 2014/15 collection is playful, graphic and very wearable.
