First look: Lanvin Cruise 2014/15
Alber Elbaz’s New York minute
"Fashion is not about perfection, fashion is about life. It is a factory of needs." stated Alber Elbaz at his Lanvin Cruise show yesterday, presenting us with a selection of options that are both equally elegant and effortless.
Lanvin — which is is marking its 125th anniversary this year — kept its trademark of luxurious fabrics and unique accessories however for this year's Cruise collection, a hint of masculinity came through, as the show started with looks that featured loose-fitted black pants and sleeveless tuxedo jackets.
With a faint nod to the Seventies and its glam-rock vibe, Mr. Elbaz created looks that were easy and 'cool', with plunging necklines, animal-printed mules and slim scarves with some tied at the neck with a fabric flower.
For evening looks, the designer embellished peasant-like blouses and long maxi dresses with rich abstract beading or delicate lace. Elbaz also experimented with technical fabrics, as he used a black taffeta to make a crisp and sculptural trench coat.
