First look: Miu Miu Cruise 2014/15
Miuccia's free spirit
Yesterday in Paris, celebrity guests filled up the room as they were welcomed by the voice of young English singer Josephine Oniyama, followed by a presentation of Miu Miu's 2014-2015 Cruise collection. The evening continued with an Italian dinner and live performance by US artist Jack White, who entertained the throngs of VIPs, including Uma Thurman, Marc Jacobs, Steve McQueen and Roman Polanski.
Apart from the musical theatrics for this season's Cruise 2014/15 presentation, Miuccia unveiled a colourful collection which took its 'groovy' energy from the 60s/70s.
Swinging from Macrame vests, paisley prints and slick pantsuits in powder blue, each look featured an element which was a staple of the era. Pieces went from tailored turtleneck mini-dresses to vibrant psychedelic prints on chiffon dresses and blouses.
Paisleys were also used in abundance as appliqué motifs were seen on short suede skirts or as an allover print on short A-line coats and dresses.
Staying in tune with Miu Miu's quirky and young ethos, the clothes — splashed with shades of orange, blue and green — were charming and wearable, as models wore short and flared outfits, with crystal heeled boots or bejeweled sandals.
