This weekend in Mumbai, The Emperor 1688 won the regional menswear finals of the coveted International Woolmark Prize

Founded by three brothers, Haman, Babak and Farhan Golkar, their menswear label, The Emperor 1688 has won one of the most prestigious fashion awards in the world. The Dubai-based brand will now go on to compete in the international finals by showcasing at London Collections: Men in January 2015.

This is the first time in the Woolmark Prize's history that a brand from the Middle East is proceeding to the finals, with the region this year being represented in both the men's and womenswear categories.

For the regional finals, The Emperor 1688 had to present sketches of a Merino wool capsule collection featuring six tailored outfits, and one fully produced outfit to present to the judging panel.

Receiving the award on Thursday evening at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, The Golkar brothers expressed their joy,"Winning the first Woolmark Prize menswear regional award and the opportunity to show our collection in London at the final is an exciting challenge and dream come true for our brand," said Haman Golkar from The Emperor 1688.
