Elsa Schiaparelli at Christie's auction
The legendary fashion designer
Elsa Schiaparelli's name has made a revival in 2013. The return of the brand Schiaparelli caused quite the stir when Christian Lacroix was chosen to work on the Haute Couture collection for the Italian brand earlier this year, and again raised some controversy when Marco Zanini was appointed as the brand's new creative director - which he left Rochas for.
Following all the hype of the Schiaparelli name this year, granddaughter Marisa Berenson has offered a personal collection of her late grandmother and famous couturier's personal belongings to go up for auction on January 23 at Christie's auction house. Up for grabs: over 180 lots ranging from fashion to art. Hot items on the table include a purple silk blouse from Schiaparelli's Astrologie collection and a bronze lamp by sculptor Alberto Giacometti.
This year has been a big one for Christie's, auctioning pieces of fashion history with the likes of Anna Piaggi, Vivienne Westwood, and Daphne Guinness. It's now time to honour Elsa, creator of the famous lobster dress and author of autobiographical book 'Shocking Life'.
The auction of items from Elsa Schiaparelli's personal collection will be held on January 23 2014 at Christie's France, 9 rue de Matignon, Paris 8th.
