Rebecca Minkoff and eBay create first ever smart store

It's shopping...but not as we know it

Tech-forward fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff has teamed up with eBay to create the first ever ‘connected store’. Aiming to bring an online interactive experience to a real life shopping trip...

Tech savvy designer Rebecca Minkoff and eBay are revolutionising the shopping experience as we know it with a new smart store that can book you a dressing room, show you catalogued items and build a shopping profile all in an interactive touch screen-clad store.

Upon arrival in the California trial store, shoppers are greeted by a wall length touch screen which offers a beverage menu and in return asks for the shoppers phone number which serves as their digital signature. The touch screen also features the full Rebecca Minkoff catalogue and is the first opportunity to begin browsing.

When items have been selected in store shoppers proceed to the dressing rooms which are fitted with large mirrors that also serve as a touchscreen interface. Through the dressing room touch screen shoppers can build an inventory of their favourite items in their profiles. They can also use it to signal to sales assistants other items in the catalogue they may wish to try.
