DVF to be honoured at The Fashion Group International's awards
DVF will be joined by fashion peers Joseph Altuzarra, Peter Copping, Brunello Cucinelli and Sarah Burton. Elie Tahari will be awarded the trophy for 'brand vision', and Carol Hamilton of L'Oréal is the selected honouree in the beauty category.
Other awards will be given for corporate leadership will to Tom Kennedy for Fossil; sustainability to Roger Schmid for Natura Brasil, and interior design to William Sofield. Downtown Abbey's Caroline McCall will receive the Edith Head Costume Design award and Harper's Bazaar's Glenda Bailey will be awarded with the Lord & Taylor Fashion Oracle award.
Speaking about the night's 'Superstar' DVF, Margaret Hayes - FGI president and chief executive officer said: "Diane is truly a legend in her own time. Perhaps more than any other American designer, she has been profoundly influential in elevating the visibility and importance of the American fashion industry around the world. But beyond Diane's exceptional talent is a sense of compassion and a generosity of spirit that drive the work of her family's foundation, which brings quality, hope, beauty and grace to the lives of so many."
The gala will take place at Cipriani 55 Wall Street on 23 October and is themed 'The Protagonists'. Simon Doonan will return once again as master of ceremonies, with Ruben Toledo creating illustrations for the invitation and program.
