Former Style.com editor Dirk Standen is hired by W Magazine
A new role as digital creative director
The former editor-in-chief of Style.com has a new job – as it is revealed that he has been tapped as W Magazine's digital creative director. Less than a month since Condé Nast announced that Style.com would cease and transform into an eCommerce platform, Standen has been tapped for a new role at the publishing house's W Magazine.
Starting next Monday, Standen will become the W digital creative director under editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi and will be responsible for its digital content and strategy. According to reports by Internet analytics company Comscore, W's digital platform does not yet meet the minimum requirements to be listed on its site – unlike competitors Elle.com (5.4 million visitors in April) and Vogue.com (2.5 million). So it would seem Standen has his work cut out, but clearly the big wigs at Condé Nast have high hopes for the celebrated editor...
