One year after he joined Diesel as artistic director, Nicola Formichetti has finally unveiled his first full collection for the iconic Italian brand

Held at the Arsenale di Venezia, the Diesel show – centered on three timeless pillars of the brand – opened with punk-inspired, zippered leather looks for its 2014 fall/winter collection.

The off-schedule show that was also linked to Twitter, saw artistic director Nicola Formichetti bring back the DNA of Diesel, capturing its youthful spirit with leather, denim and military-infused looks.

Marking the first seasonal showing from the newly appointed artist director, Formichetti showed of his unique design skill with models styling plenty of denim  – patchworked, splattered and sprayed with paint and bleach  – as well as long fur-embellished parkas and leather moto jackets.

Celebrity guests at the eventful show included fellow designers Dean & Dean Caten of Dsquared2, Marni's Consuelo Castiglioni Marni, and Viktor & Rolf. Famed fashion editors Franca Sozzani and Anna Dello Russo were also seen in the audience, where they were treated to a musical performance by Formichetti's muse Brooke Candy.
