Hired! Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne confirmed as new DKNY creative directors
The Public School boys new gig
Rumours that Prabal Gurung could be headed to DKNY can now cease, as the American fashion house names Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne its new creative directors. Chow and Osborne, who previously denied rumours that they were headed to DKNY, are the design duo behind Public School, the super-cool men's and women's label.
The newly crowned creative directors will be joined by Hector Muelas, creative director of worldwide marketing communications for Apple, who has also been hired by DKNY and will sit in a brand new post as the chief image officer.
The three new DNKY employees – Chow, Osborne and Muelas – will report to Caroline Brown, chief executive officer of Donna Karan International, parent company of DKNY. Chow and Osborne will reveal their first womenswear collection for DKNY this September at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) before turning their attention to menswear.
CEO Caroline Brown said: “I can’t think of designers who represent authentic New York in a better way,” adding that, besides being New York-based designers, Chow and Osborne are “born and raised New Yorkers.”
