Damien Hirst, Marc Jacobs and Other Criteria team up for charity
The Mickey Mouse club
It was five years ago that Damien Hirst was invited by Disney to develop a piece inspired by Mickey Mouse. The result is entitled simply 'Mickey' and it recalled Hirst's iconic spot paintings,
The image was reproduced into a series of posters sold by the art publisher Other Criteria and early this year, Christie's auctioned the original 'Mickey' for just over $1.5 million, donating a portion of the proceeds to Kids Company, an organisation that supports inner-city children in the UK.
Now we can wear it – as in association with Other Criteria and Marc Jacobs, Hirst has collaborated on a T-shirt version of 'Mickey' to benefit the charity.
The limited-edition pieces are available in black and white and in both adult and children's sizes, and go on sale tomorrow in both Marc Jacobs and Other Criteria stores
