Cynthia Rowley presents her new Spring/Summer 16 collection via drones
Eye in the sky
Cynthia Rowley has been experimenting with unorthodox presentations, opting for digitised experiences for the past few seasons. Now, for Spring/Summer 16 she takes the concept to a new level by flying specialised technicians from China to assist in a look-book shoot produced by phantom aerial-drone cameras, shot on the beaches of Montauk, New York: "I wanted it to have that same riveting feeling...of watching a surfer catch a wave over and over again," Rowley said.
Opting for a slightly more unconstrained aesthetic that darted from navaho, to seventies to folky and a few other points along the way, styles encompassed sleek white leg lengthening cigarette pants with an oval hem, circular print on a midi-dress and heavy fringing.
There was a generous offering of eveningwear, Rowley knows that her customers enjoy her party looks, and with the fusing of her different reference points and her signature florals done in dark hues, she hit all the right notes, even if they didn't string together for a recognisable tune.
