Condé Nast to debut International Luxury Conference hosted by Suzy Menkes
The business of fashion in Florence
After recently announcing a bespoke publishing business and selling WWD off to Penske Media, Condé Nast seems to be going through some big restructuring changes of late. Queue the latest news from the publishing giant: its first conference.
Set to take place in Florence 2015, the Condé Nast International Luxury Conference will be hosted by the new jewel in its crown: Suzy Menkes, after she famously left the New York Times for Vogue earlier this year.
The chairman and chief executive of the international publishing house announced that the first seminar will be titled 'Hard Luxury' and will be held on April 22 and 23 at the city's Palazzo Vecchio.
"Through magazines and websites like Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ, Condé Nast is the luxury industry's leading media partner," Newhouse said. "The Condé Nast International Luxury Conference will animate our brands in a new way, bringing together top luxury players in a stimulating event to provoke new thinking, forge connections and make things happen. It will be a 'must' rendezvous for luxury business."
Alongside Menkes, the conference is expected to feature prominent speakers from across the industry and explore both business and creative viewpoints.
"'Hard Luxury' refers to both the traditional description of high-end watches and jewellery, and to the fact that it is tough out there in the global market place," Suzy Menkes added. "Luxury today is as much about high-tech as high heels."
