Christopher Bailey, Thandie Newton and Twiggy make the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list

They have been recognised for their efforts to society
These names have been chosen for a royal honour...

The New Year is just hours away from making its entrance around the world and this time each year, Queen Elizabeth II releases her annual New Year’s Honours list.

Handed out to names in the fashion and art industries, the honourees are chosen based on their continuous contributions to society and will receive their awards at Buckingham Palace throughout the next few months.

This year, Burberry‘s ex-Creative Director (and the man that truly made the iconic British brand what it is today), Christopher Bailey, made it onto the list and will receive a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his work at the British brand. This will mark Bailey’s second royal accolade following his appointment as Master of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) which he received in 2009.

Also on the list this year is model Twiggy (and Andy Warhol’s muse) who will be named Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Britain’s oldest working model Daphne Selfe (who still fronts campaigns at 90 years old) who will receive a British Empire Medal for creating opportunities for older women in the modelling industry and actress Thandie Newton who will receive Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE).
