Chloé teams up with Studio Voltaire for an exclusive collaboration
Coming this November
Set up in 1994 to promote and support both emerging and established artists, Studio Voltaire will host a collaboration with Chloé at its Mayfair pop-up shop this November. The union will consist of a limited-edition collection of ready-to-wear with the contemporary arts organisation.
Along with the announcement of the collaboration, Chloé creative director Clare Waight Keller voiced her desire to collaborate with the unique organisation for some time:
"I first went to the House of Voltaire shop in 2010 and from then I knew I was interested in getting involved with it," she told us this morning. "Chloe is a brand that celebrates femininity and it's always had a connection with art. Because I am British, I wanted to establish a relationship with emerging British artists, so it seemed like the perfect union."
Waight Keller personally chose the artists – Cao Fei, Karen Kilimnik and Jenny Saville – who have created the special pieces in collaboration.
"Karen Kilimnik is inspired by the 17th century and together we have created some eyelet broderie anglaise pieces which are wonderful; Cao Fei, a Chinese documentary filmmaker who also works in sculpture and installation, has written a story for some of our dresses and so inside each dress there will be a long label with the story printed on it; and for many years, Jenny Saville has kept lots of test swatches of canvas - used to test her brushes and mix her paints - in her studio, and together we decided to create a scarf print from these pieces of canvas," Waight Keller explained.
Taking cue from previous collaborators James Franco and Sharleen Spiteri, Chloé's head creative also revealed that she will be involved in every detail when the pop-up shop opens this November – even personally manning the tills.
The House of Voltaire will be open in Mayfair for a limited time in November and the Chloé's capsule collaborative collection will also exclusively be for sale online at Net-A-Porter.com.
