Chanel’s 2014 Métiers d'Art show will debut in historic Salzburg tomorrow
A palatial presentation for the second day of December
Since 2002, Chanel's annual Métiers d'Art collection has celebrated craftsmanship while putting the spotlight on cities which are linked to the house's history. Shown every year in December, the Métiers d'Art collection, debuts a new ready-to-wear collection outside of the official show schedule.
Following on from Bombay, Edinburgh and last year’s Dallas location – this year Karl Lagerfeld's inspiration turns to Salzburg, Austria. This city, with its deep appreciation for history and tradition and known as the birthplace of Mozart, naturally lends itself Chanel's Métiers d'Art collection.
The teaser from Karl Lagerfeld’s latest film featuring Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne, which will be screened in full in Salzburg this evening (stay tuned to Buro24/7 who will bring it to you first) implies an aristocratic aesthetic most suited to this resplendent palace.
The collection will be presented at the 18th century Schloss Leopoldskron. This castle, banked on the shores of Lake Leopoldskroner Weiher, has been inextricably linked to the rich artistic and intellectual life of Salzburg's society throughout its history. Following the wild west saloon production of the Dallas show this time last year, we are excited to see this mid-season's collection and the site specific designs that Karl Lagerfeld will bestow upon this grand venue.
For now, enjoy another look at the teaser of Karl's new film 'Reincarnation' starring Pharrell and Cara:
