First look: Calvin Klein Pre-Fall 2015

Calvin's cool

For Pre-Fall, Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa captured a glamorous ease that took shape in silhouettes from the sixties and seventies, and sprinkle of the nineties

Inspired by a book resting on the coffee table at the Calvin Klein showroom, Semina – the midcentury literary and art movement founded by Californian Wallace Berman (1926-1976) – the label's latest fashion offerings feature patchwork leather hip-huggers, cropped and shrunken motorcycle jackets, and retro baby-doll dresses.

Using the carefree vibe and underground attitude seen throughout the book, Costa's designs went from swinging maxi dresses to tailored trench coats, each emphasised by an artsy collage of knits, leathers or suedes. The designer also stuck the Calvin Klein minimal ethos by keeping colours light and limited – beige, white, and burgundy – helping keep eyes on the beautiful structure and easiness of each piece.
