Calvin Klein launches watch and jewellery design contest
For future accessories stars
The contest will give students at schools including the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan, and Donghua University in Shanghai, the opportunity to win a cash prize, as well as show their work at the prestigious Baselworld fair in 2015.
"The contest gives students real-world experience and potential global exposure for their proposed designs, while the brand gains insight into the fresh visions of emerging design talents from three respected design schools spanning three continents," said Laura Burdese, president of Calvin Klein Watches & Jewellery.
The students taking part in the contest will be tasked to present designs that reflect their own interpretations of the brand; their submissions will be judged on their creativity including use of materials, details and packaging, and functionality. Once the students have submitted their works, alongside Burdese, experts including creative director of Calvin Klein men's and women's accessories Ulrich Grimm, and bloggers Chiara Ferragni Hanneli Mustaparta and Nicole Warne, will judge the designs.
