Bridal Fashion Week: Naeem Khan, Monique Lhuillier & Marchesa
After playing host to New York Fashion Week last month, the Big Apple is now holding the biggest annual event for bridal fashion, from lace to heavy beading, Manhattan has been filled with a myriad of fashion shows including Reem Acra, JLM Couture, Maggie Sottero and many more...
For Naeem Khan's versatile Winter lineup, the Indian-American designer opted for a fresh, young and alluring spirit, presenting unconventional silhouettes, which aimed to dress the bride-to-be for more than just the main ceremony. The collection saw a chic pantsuit, several cocktail dresses reminiscent of the Jazz Age, and classic gowns which showcased Khan's love for ornate handiwork.
Inspired by a ballerina twirling in a jewellery box, Monique Lhuillier sent out a pristine lineup of princess and trumpet gowns and sculptural shapes for her latest bridal collection –which featured an abundance of tulle, beading and Chantilly lace. Shades of lavender, beige and gold were also present among the traditional white colour palette.
With a collection aimed at every type of bride, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig showed a beautifully edited lineup of 15 looks, from gowns with detachable capes and fishtail gowns to drop-waist cocktail dresses paired with opulent veils. Each Marchesa dress featured an array of embellishments, including chiffon sashes, frilly ruffles, orate lace, pearl and crystal embroideries and flower appliqués.
