The bleached effect

For 2014/15’s Cruise collection, creative director Tomas Maier unveils an array of discreet yet psychedelic designs, with blotches and spots scattered along luxurious Bottega Veneta fabrics

To avoid using bleach of any of the garments (and, therefore, toxins), Maier achieved his beautiful prints with a corrosion technique; overprinting them to enhance the result on fabrics like cotton poplin and crepe sable.

The new collection combines the unique organic pattern of spots and smudges alongside manipulated floral motifs on elegant looks such a pastel blue shirt. For evening options, the special treatment was also used on several stunning black sleeveless maxi-dresses featuring blush tone touches.

Accessories – as always – play a key role in the new collection, with bags artfully decorated with linear marks of colour and the house's signature intrecciato design.
