Bonhams to debut fashion photography auction this month
Featuring works by Irving Penn, Helmut Newton, Peter Lindbergh and more
The Big Apple will play host to a special fashion photography auction titled 'The Art of Fashion Photography', presented by Bonhams New York. Amongst the lots available are works from the world's most celebrated fashion photographers including Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, George Hoyningen-Huene, Lotte Jacobi, William Klein, Garry Winogrand, Miles Aldridge, Peter Lindbergh, Roxanne Lowit and others.
Star pieces include a unique version of Helmut Newton's T.V. Murder, Cannes; Allan Tannenbaum's glamorous Jerry Hall, Studio 54, NYC, and Willy Ronis' evocative Marchands de Frites, rue Ramboteau.
Three stunning Irving Penn gelatin silver prints are also available alongside Penn's iconic 1950 photograph, Women at Wartime (Dorian and Evelyn Tripp), which captures the empowered, liberated attitude of two of his favourite models.
A public preview of the auction will be held from December 13 – 15.
