Anya Hindmarch to take over Selfridges’ car park
Shopping’s highway code
Following the 'men at work' inspired motorway Autumn/Winter 15 collection from Anya Hindmarch, the accessories designer is to take over Selfridges, London, car park from September 11. With specific reference to London's circular motorway, the M25, Hindmarch will deck out the car park with black carpet printed with road chevron stripes, install a car wash-themed photo booth that also sells air fresheners and bumper stickers, as well as a snack bar.
"There is something about being on the M25, with a clear road and the combination of lights, reflective surfaces and your favourite piece of music that can put you into a wonderful – safe! – driving trance," said the designer. "I also love the graphic signage, with its purity and efficiency of message and the subtle humour that's created when it's used in an unexpected way."
As the car park becomes a special road-side concession, the Autumn/Winter collection will be available to purchase in all of its high-vis road signage glory, in the space, alongside some Hindmarch classics such the Ebuy and Bathurst handbags.
