Annie Leibovitz revives ‘Women’ project with touring exhibition

First stop – London

Iconic American photographer, Annie Leibovitz, is taking her celebrated ‘Women’ project on a world tour in 2016, complete with a set of whole new portraits. Get the scoop here…

Celebrated photographer, Annie Leibovitz, is working to extend her most famous project – Women – in 2016, adding to the collection of portraits and taking the exhibition on a world tour. Starting in London in January, Women will also visit New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo among other cities.

The pop-up exhibition of new portraits will be exhibited in undisclosed locations, steering away from the typical museum and gallery venues, the sites are being chosen, the UBS organisers say, "for the possibilities they offer for original and unexpected encounters."

The Woman project was originally an exhibition and book of portraits created 15 years ago in collaboration with the author Susan Sontag. And Leibovitz says she wants the additional portraits (that she is still working on) to reflect the changes in the roles of women today.
