Anna Wintour reveals the two guests she'd love to attend the Met Gala
However there'd be no plus ones...
The Met Gala is undoubtedly the biggest night on fashion's calendar and although some of the world's most recognised names are in attendance each year, there's two people host Anna Wintour would love to see attend that are yet to.
Speaking to NBC ahead of the big night, Wintour revealed she wants to see a little royalty on the red carpet. "I would love to have the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge together. That would be my dream couple."
Although if the pair were to come, they wouldn't get a plus one. "They could leave their husbands at home," Wintour said. "It's the two of them I want."
She has previously spoken highly of the pair, saying, "I think the two young Duchesses that they have...are going to keep the royal family afloat, quite frankly." In fact, the famed editor attributed recent thoughts about a wardrobe change to Meghan in particular, telling the crowd at the Women in the World summit last month, "I've been thinking a lot about suits recently so... than you to the Duchess of Sussex."
Whether or not the pair will ever attend is unknown, however it's not unprecedented for royals to appear on the red carpet. Princess Beatrice attended last year's event, whilst Princess Diana was at the 1996 event.
Neither will attend this year's event however, with Meghan reportedly due to give birth any day now.
