André Leon Talley to depart from Zappos

Tally-ho to new beginnings

The former editor at large at American Vogue is said to breaking with Zappos, and will not return for another run as artistic director of the footwear site

Apparently confirmed by André Leon Talley late Tuesday, Zappos Couture will not be renewing Talley's contract, which he inked with Zappos at the end of 2013 for a one-year stint at the website. Talley was in charge of overseeing content on Zappos Couture's site, from directing fashion shoots and videos to deciding on the top trends.

The popular Amazon-owned site hired him to help elevate its image among the fashion industry, allowing Talley to pick high-end footwear for more upscale clientele.

Zappos has not commented on the subject yet, however Talley has hinted that he's moving on to bigger things. "I needed this much-valued freedom to explore new and exciting opportunities, and I am glad to be in talks with an exciting new venture, for my life, which I hope to be able to expand upon very soon," he said to WWD
