amfAR 2014: The Inspiration Gala in São Paulo
The fund's second charity event this year
On April 4 Brazil's largest city, São Paulo, hosted The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) Inspiration Gala. The Inspiration Series has raised more than $10 million to benefit amfAR since its inception in 2010.
This year marks the fourth annual Inspiration Gala in São Paulo and the third year of being held at the home of Honorary Chair Dinho Diniz. The Inspiration Galas have been held in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Miami in the past four years.
Co-Chairs of this year's São Paulo event included Sharon Stone, Kenneth Cole, Kate Moss, Ricardo Tisci, Vin Roberti and supermodel Naomi Campbell – who was also the host of the star-studded evening.
At this year's Inspiration Gala, amfAR's awards for outstanding work on AIDS research were handed out to entrepreneur and president of Grupo ABC Nizan Guanes and style director of Vogue Brasil Donata Meirelles.
The evening would not have been complete without amfAR's traditional charity auction as actress Sharon Stone took to the stage to auction off some truly unique pieces, including passes for Givenchy's next Paris ready-to-wear fashion show as well as a surfboard designed by artist Richard Phillips.
