Its fastest growing department
E-tail giant Amazon – with a recent push to offline sales in America – is concentrating on fashion when it comes to its European market.
It's revealed plans to open a photography studio in the cultural hotspot Shoreditch in East London, which will serve as its largest in Europe, providing on-model and off-model imagery for the site.
Amazon.co.uk launched its fashion offerings in 2007, and since the start of this year alone has taken on more than 100 fashion brands which include Hugo Boss, Gucci watches, Emporio Armani, Vivienne Westwood, Puma, Missoni and Moschino.
Its also selling one-off capsule collections by Osman and Solange Azagury-Partridge in the run-up to the festive season. "Fashion is one of the fastest-growing businesses for Amazon across Europe, and the creation of this new studio illustrates both our ambitions in this area and our dedication to providing a first-class customer experience," said Sergio Bucher, vice president of Amazon Fashion EU.
The photography studio will be located in a former glass factory with the company expecting to create 35 permanent roles at the studio with up to 50 freelancers to support seasonal demand.
