Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet is launching a new initiative in support of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to help promote young up and coming design talent in America. The newly cemented three year partnership will see Alice + Olivia will work with a new artist each year, to create a one-of-a-kind creation that will be sold at auction at a special event. 100 percent of the proceeds will go towards CFDA initiatives. Furthermore, varied versions of the auctioned item will be featured in a capsule collection available at all Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet stores and other retail partners, with 50 percent of the proceeds earmarked for the CFDA.
The first artistic collaboration is with Spanish American artist Domingo Zapata, who has also been commissioned to create a commemorative focal mural for the recently completed Freedom World Tower. For the collaboration with Alice + Olivia a hand-painted silk colourful mural has been turned into a one of a kind gown (pictured above), signed by Zapata, which will be auctioned off at the end of this month for the CFDA.
The same design has been applied to a capsule collection which comprises a gown, floor-length skirt and a minidress, each in a print rendered from a mural painted by Zapata.
Stacey Bendet, CEO and creative director of Alice + Olivia expressed her delight at the new partnership saying that it: "is very reflective of my brand and our continued collaboration with artists. It is also wonderful to be able to raise funds for the CFDA, in their ongoing support of our industry and its new talent."
