Alexa Chung teams up with AG denim to create her own line
Proof that she's capable of anything
The prospective collection, to be named 'Alexa Chung for AG', is expected to consist of around 20 pieces including denim dresses and overalls, T-shirts and standard jeans, with Chung commenting: "The collection is inherently the missing pieces of my dream denim wardrobe, which, as ever, is predominantly inspired by a late Sixties, early Seventies aesthetic."
The front row fixture showed her knowledge of fashion eras and her conventional taste levels when talking about a cropped denim jacket with a matching miniskirt that she plans to include in the collection, saying that it portrayed "Chanel, nineties Versace," as well as hot pants which she said were "higher-waisted than your classic and made to not show any bottom."
The $100 million denim manufacturer's creative director, Sam Ku, said of the Chung, "For someone who has never really worked in fashion, she has a keen sense of how to put a collection together and which pieces go together...She has an innate sense of style that allows her to put together ideas and pieces that work together."
With her experiences as a model, Alexa will take part in the campaign to promote the collection, and some retailers expected to sell the collection, in addition to the company's own stores and e-commerce site, are Net-a-Porter.com, ShopBop.com and Selfridges in London. The pieces will retail from $70 to $300, and are expected to hit stores in fall 2015.
