“It is all about heat and heart here” – Alber Elbaz hosts Lanvin Dubai event
The designer's first visit to the Emirate
Lanvin creative director, Alber Elbaz brings the heat and a whole lot of heart to Dubai with his first visit to the emirate. The Moroccan-born designer hosted an exclusive event at the One & Only Royal Mirage, where 400 fashion, digital and retail personalities staged a Lanvin love-in, set to the backdrop of the Arabian courtyard which was decorated elegantly with flower petals and candles.
"Who needs New York? Who needs L.A.?" announced Elbaz to his guests "It is all about heat and heart here," said the designer, whose aim was to make the crowd feel as if they were "part of the fashion family, not industry."
Lanvin is celebrating its new presence here in Dubai but Elbaz explained his idea of going against the Dubai grain: "Already a lot of brands have come here and everybody has a bigger party because the bigger the better, but I thought, 'Let's think small again." The 'intimate' courtyard party saw guests scrambling to snatch a selfie with the iconic designer, who was more than happy to oblige as he circulated and spent time with guests.
Before the big event, Elbaz had a private audience with members of the royal family over afternoon tea, where he staged a private presentation of the exclusive six-piece capsule collection that he has designed just for the Middle East, which exhibits elements of the Moroccan influenced Autumn/Winter 15 collection.
