Acne opens new flagship store in LA
In the heart of Los Angeles' "Berlin"
In an area filled with beautiful architecture, from Arata Isozaki's Museum of Contemporary Art to Frank Gehry's L.A. Phil Walt Disney Concert Hall and Claud Beelman's Eastern Columbia Building, what brings an international fashion house to open its largest flagship store, to date, in an area that isn't Rodeo or Melrose? Johnny Johansson, ACNE's creative director says that is exactly the point!
"We could have opened on Melrose, but for us we had to start something new. This area is more our style - it's very eclectic, and it has the most beautiful buildings in the world. It's almost like Berlin."
The interior of stainless steel and cobalt carpets reflect the old Hollywood vibe oozing into the store from 9th Street, whilst the mushroom sculpture by Swedish artist, Carsten Holler, serves as a metaphor for the growth of downtown LA. The store will be located on 855 South Broadway where both Los Angeles and the New Year await its arrival.
