A special partnership between one of London's finest stores and a Sharjah-based council is providing the perfect international platform for 10 UAE artisans. Buro 24/7 Middle East has the details...

High-end department store Fenwick of Bond Street in London has partnered with Sharjah's Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council, an affiliate of the NAMA Women Advancement Establishment, on a pop-up project that will see 10 UAE designers and artisans – Alia Bin Omair, Sara Mahmood, Asma Mustafa, Faissal El-Malak, Amal Haliq, Madiyah Al Sharqi, Zayan, Latifa Al Gurg, Sheikha Hind Majid Al Qassimi and Mona Fares – showcase their coveted works at a specially curated retail space.

"We are delighted to be working alongside Fenwick of Bond Street, a globally renowned department store, known for its elite brands and equally discerning clientele," said Reem BinKaram, Director of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment. "It is an ideal fit for Irthi designers who are expanding their labels and presenting new opportunities to a target audience who will be able see the quality of their work. And for Fenwick, this is also in line with its history of promoting the latest quality brands."

One of the highlights of the pop-up initiative is Madiyah Al Sharqi's Spring/Summer '17 collection which features oversized bell-sleeved blouses, flared pants and billowing mullet dresses. "The collection focused on the idea of curves and circular figures inspired by nature like the fluidity of waves, ripples in desert sand and the shape of the setting sun against the horizon," explained the award-winning designer.
