Paris Men's Fashion Week: Dior Homme Spring/Summer 15
Feeling nautical
Dior Homme's creative director opened the show in Paris with a trio of deep blue tuxedos. Featuring three primary suit shapes, described backstage as classic, straight and "fashion,"- with the latter consisting of tapered pants and a untraditional cropped jacket.
A nod to Victorian swimwear was present in scoop necked tank tops in brazen sailor stripes, which added a fun, hipster element to classical suiting. Sailor stripes featuring on dress shirts alongside a handwritten script – taken from a letter penned by Christian Dior himself in the 50s.
Van Assche may have only shown a naval collection for Dior Homme two years ago, but he had more to explore. The sailing coats in waxed yellow jersey and navy leather were a highlight of the new collection – which will be smart and chic enough to wear on Wall Street, or DIFC.
