Milan Fashion Week Menswear AW15: Dolce & Gabbana
Yesterday in Milan, large curtains opened on eight real families, friends and colleagues of Dolce & Gabbana – appearing like a life-size painting – from grandmothers to babies, adding a new life to the runway other than male models.
For Autumn/Winter 15 Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana played on the idea of family, all types of families, as the clothes clothing featured Renaissance renditions of the nativity to cartoons variations of a mother, father, and their two kids. The model casting was multi-generational as well – with no age limit in sight – "Fashion's a family too," said Gabbana, "This is a fashion show without fashion," he added.
The duo stuck to their classic silhouettes for AW15, from three-piece suits and distressed denim, to embroidered jumpers and graphic t-shirts. With a royal colour palette of black, gold, brown, red and grey, comfort was a big part of this collection, with loungewear pieces and even tailored separates created from dark tweeds, jersey and velvet. However, everything always came back to notion of family, with even the most embellished pieces featuring family crests and embroidered appliqués that read "Amore," "Famiglia," "Love Forever."
