Paris Fashion Week Menswear AW15: Lanvin

School's in session

As Andy Stott’s track 'Science and Industry' boomed through the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, it was clear that Alber Elbaz and wingman Lucas Ossendrijver were going to teach us a few things about menswear via Lanvin’s AW15 collection…

This season, Lanvin's men's collection was strong with a moody and dark palette, filled with luxurious outerwear and tailored silhouettes. The Autumn/Winter 15 show opened with a set of uniforms, as creative director Alber Elbaz and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver focused on gray mélange fabrics or Prince of Wales check on baggy trousers, tight jumpers and shirt-like jackets.

Infusing a bohemian/rock 'n' roll vibe – think bad boy John Bender from '80s film The Breakfast Club – throughout the lineup, looks started to appear with heavy layers, leather jackets and graphic collar shirts.

Meanwhile, sculptural topcoats were worn with high-waist pants (a Lanvin signature), chunky cardigans and an overall cool slouch. "Less of a uniform and more of an individual," Elbaz noted on the AW15 looks. "That's the most important thing: Not to get lost in fashion, but to get lost in translation."
