Hardy Amies: London menswear fall 2014
Details in the fabric
If you research the history of Hardy Amies a lot of the features included in the garments and tailoring will become apparent - for example, the origin of Sir Hardy's clean cut, almost military style, was acquired from his time as a covert operative during World War II. The brilliant design director Mehmet Ali has hinted to this aspect through his military-inspired outerwear this season. Details such as the patch and bluff pockets on the jackets, blazers and evening overcoats are little nudges at the late founder.
With all the usual features and characteristics such as the visual 'HA' monogram that was designed by interior designer William Haines in the Sixties - appearing this season in leather, tucked under collars and on tote bags.
The classic fabrics were in an understated palette, with slim fit denim in dark washes and Grenson tasselled loafers.
